SKICANN Festival Bumped to 2023, Magic Mountain to Host Ski Day and Spring Swap

Posted on February 24th, 2022 to Cannabis News by

With the success of the Ski Daze events this winter, renting out Magic Mountain for a day-long cannabis x snow sports x music festival and celebration felt like a guaranteed hit…

And our time in Southern Vermont has proven that the interest, enthusiasm, and the kick-ass music is out there! That feeling was reinforced even more last weekend at a panel discussion in Bellows Falls featuring VT NORML, medical activist Fran Janik and myself — shout out Jason and Sarah for organizing!

HOWEVA, we’ve decided that due to the combination of date, weather, and (mostly) our own internal Vermontijuana capacity, we can’t pull off the SKICANN Festival this year in the same format we had planned.

Rather than throw together a disappointing Fyre Fest-style event or retreating from Southern Vermont, we’ve decided to delay the SKICANN Festival until February 2023 while also doubling our planned events at Magic Mountain in 2022.

So, here’s the plan:

On Sunday, March 27, we’ll host a ‘Ski Daze’-style meetup at Magic Mountain featuring $49 lift tickets, a parking lot sesh, and an apres-ski meetup at 2pm at the Black Line Tavern. We won’t have exhibitors or live music for this event, but with the mountain’s generous discount, we’re hoping to get a few dozen enthusiasts together for spring laps and casual networking!

On Sunday, April 24, we’ll be back at Magic Mountain as part of the second annual Vermontijuana Spring Swap. We’ll be releasing these details in the Vermontijuana newsletter and on social media in the next week, but that event will feature exhibitors, live music, and a grassroots swap of plants, seeds, and cultivation culture.

As for the SKICANN festival itself, we’ve already locked in a better date for 2023 and will plan to host our day-long private cannabis celebration on Monday, February 5, 2023. A huge thank you to our sponsors and supporters who got on board early and are leading the charge: the Vermont Grow Barn, High Brix Cannabis and the Cannabis Collective, Vermont Security, and Rosie’s Confections and X-Tract Vermont.
